Fasting: It's Lent, and I'm not Catholic

Lent is a Catholic tradition, and I'm not Catholic.  So why am I doing anything?

Matthew 6:16- (Jesus is speaking).  "When you fast..."

WHEN.  Not if.  WHEN.  It was an obvious assumption of Jesus that his followers would fast.  It's a spiritual discipline.  So you're right, I'm not Catholic and I don't care about Lent per say.  But Jesus did instruct his followers to fast, and gave us specific insight into fasting as if to assume that we were already doing it.

Why do we fast?  Because Jesus expected his followers to fast.

I'm praying that your intimacy with God will go to new depths as a result of taking the first steps in obeying Jesus and observing a fast in your life.
