Fasting: When NO means YES

Luke 9:23-  And Jesus said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."

The subject of "self denial" coincides with the Christian life throughout Scripture.  Fasting is a way for us to expedite the process of self denial in our lives.  It forces us to say no to ourselves (our habits, hungers, desires, pleasures) so that we can say yes to God more often.

Today I'm praying that through this season of fasting that an attitude of self denial would be engrained into my personal culture, and would be more of a natural process in my life instead of a scheduled event a few times a year.
