Fasting: Personal Evaluation

Jeremiah 36:6 "So you are to go, and on a day of fasting in the hearing of all the people in the Lord's house, you shall read the words of the Lord from the scroll that you have written at my dictation."

God told Jeremiah to write down the things that God had instructed the people to do, and the consequences that He planned on bringing to them if they weren't obedient.  By reading aloud these steps that God had called them to take, they were forced to do a personal evaluation of their obedience and faithfulness.  Had they done what God instructed them to do?

Part of the fasting process includes doing a self-evaluation in our own lives.  What sin do we need to confess?  What has God called us to do that we haven't done yet?  What are the areas of our life that have gotten off track?  It's time for a personal evaluation in your spiritual life.

I pray that your time fasting would force you to ask some hard questions, make changes, and do an evaluation of your faithfulness, obedience, and desire to do the things that God has called you to do.
